Blue Frontier Youth Ambassador Program

Are you a high school junior passionate about protecting our oceans? The Blue Frontier Youth Ambassador Program is open to exceptional 11th graders who will be at least 16 years old by June 1, 2026, and want to take on a leadership role in ocean and coastal conservation.

Over one year, Ambassadors will:

  1. Travel to Washington, D.C. for a fully funded, four-day trip with Blue Frontier leaders to advocate for ocean issues with Congress and federal agencies.
  2. Lead a community project such as a beach cleanup or plastic audit at your school.
  3. Organize a small sponsorship effort with local businesses to help fund future Ambassadors.

Students receive mentorship through college applications, a letter of recommendation, and connections with ocean advocates nationwide. Past participants have attended schools like UC Berkeley and the University of Washington.

To apply:

  • Submit a resume and two references
  • Answer two short essay questions (350 words each):
    1. What’s the most pressing ocean issue today, and why?
    2. How have you—or how could you—advocate for the oceans?

Applications close January 9, 2026.
