Transportation

There are several things to consider while making travel plans to Washington,DC – most, of course, depend on your starting point. Here are several suggestions to help you navigate the journey:

Via Metro:
The Foggy Bottom Metro Station is the closest to The Marvin Center where the event is being held. Foggy Bottom Metro is the Orange, Silver, and Blue Lines. After exiting the metro, head south on 23rd St NW towards I St NW, turn left onto I St NW, and turn right onto 21st NW. The address of The Marvin Center is 800 21st NW Washington, D.C. 20037.

Via Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA)
The Marvin Center on George Washington University Campus is about 15 minutes by car (barring rush-hour traffic) or a subway ride from Reagan National Airport. Directions for the subway and driving are provided below.

Traveling by subway:
There is a subway stop in the airport. It serves 2 subway lines (Blue and Yellow). The closest metro stop to The Marvin Center is on the Blue Line (Foggy Bottom – GWU). Take the Blue Line from the airport towards Largo Town Center 6 stops to Foggy Bottom GWU station and follow the directions from there below.

Traveling by car:
Exit the airport following signs for Downtown Washington, DC. The first road you will be led onto is the GW Parkway traveling north along the Potomac river, and within a few minutes you will come to an exit US-50 E/Arlington Blvd. Continue on I-66 E/US-50 E for about a mile before taking E St Expressway to 20th St NW in Washington. Follow that for about two miles before using the left two lanes to turn left onto 20th St NW. In a quarter of a mile, turn left onto Pennsylvania Ave NW and soon after turn left onto 21st NW. The Marvin Center Parking Garage is located on H St between 21st and 22nd Streets.

Via Dulles International Airport (IAD)
The Marvin Center on George Washington University Campus is located about 45 minutes drive (barring rush-hour traffic) from Dulles Airport. There is no subway transportation there, cabs tend to be quite expensive. There are shuttle services that take you to downtown Washington for about $15. If you take one of those, and they can’t drop you at The Marvin Center (800 21st NW), you can either take a cab from their drop off location, or find your way to a subway stop and follow the subway instructions.

Traveling by car:
Exit the airport heading for Downtown Washington. There is just one exit out of the airport, really, and it will put you on the “Dulles Access Road” which will whisk you into Washington allowing you to avoid the “Dulles Toll Road” which parallels it and has tolls and much more traffic. When the toll road ends (about 15 miles), pass the splits for 495 and remain on the road which will eventually merge into Interstate 66. While this is a limited access road during rush hour (2 occupants or more required per car), all traffic from the airport is authorized to use it. Follow 66 toward Washington, for approximately 10 miles. Once you cross the Potomac River the road becomes Constitution Avenue, at 23rd St. Follow that road to 14th Street, turn left, and pick up the instructions offered for traveling 14th Street from Reagan National Airport (you’ll only need to travel about 13 blocks on 14th before turning onto P St.).

Via Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI)
The Marvin Center on George Washington University Campus is located about an hour’s drive (barring rush-hour traffic) from BWI Airport. There is no subway transportation there, and a cab would be very expensive. There are shuttle services that take you to downtown Washington for about $15-25. If you take one of those, and they can’t drop you off at The Marvin Center (800 21st NW), you can either take a cab from their drop off location, or find your way to a subway stop and follow the subway instructions. You can also take the MARC train to Union Station or Amtrak into D.C. and from there take the red line towards Shady Grove/Grosvenor to the Farragut North Station and walk about 13 minutes to Marvin Center or take the red line towards Shady Grove/Grosvenor until Metro Center and then transfer to the Blue Line towards Franconia Springfield, the Orange Line towards Vienna, or the Silver Line towards Wiehle Reston East. All of them will take you to the Foggy Bottom- GWU metro stop and you can follow the directions below from there.

Traveling by car:

From BWI follow the Service Rd Lower Level and Friendship Rd to I-195 W for about 1 mile. Follow MD-295 S and Baltimore-Washington Parkway to US-50 W/New York Ave NW in 2, Bladensburg. Take the US-50 W exit from Baltimore- Washington Parkway. After 26 miles follow New York Ave NE and I St NW t 21st St NW in Washington. The Marvin Center parking lot is located on H St between 21st and 22nd streets.
