Blue Frontier Campaign announced today that it had received the prestigious 2005 Coastal Living Award for Leadership. Each year Coastal Living Magazine honors a select group of people and organizations who have contributed to protection of the shore. The awards recognize achievements in the areas of Sea and Shore Preservation, Education, Community Development, Tourism, Design and Leadership.

This year Blue Frontier founder and president David Helvarg was given the leadership award for his work helping to mobilize an emerging blue movement that works for the protection, exploration and restoration of America’s living seas. A national magazine that celebrates life along the coast, Coastal Living has, since its launch in 1997, grown to serve a total audience of more than 3 million readers.

The Blue Frontier Campaign, founded in 2003, works to strengthen America’s ocean constituency through building unity, providing educational and organizing tools, and enhancing awareness of common sense solutions that can help protect and restore our endangered public seas.
