Dedicated to the environmental well being of coastal habitats. Draws attention to issues that affect the littoral zone – the area on the beach between low and high tide. The society is a national non-profit, public-interest organization composed of over 6000 professional and amateur naturalists. The Southeast chapter of the American Littoral Society is an all-volunteer group that serves members in the Gulf States: Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and on the Atlantic side, Florida and Georgia.
