The Florida Coastal and Ocean Coalition is a group of organizations working together to conserve, protect and restore Florida’s coastal and marine environment. Florida has five million acres of tidally submerged land, 8,426 miles of tidal shoreline, 825 miles of sandy beaches, and no portion of the state is greater than 60 miles from the coast. We are a coastal and ocean state. Planning for Florida’s ocean and coastal future is important from an economic as well as an environmental perspective. Much of Florida’s economy depends upon a healthy and productive coastal environment
