LightHawk provides the aerial view to conserving land, water and wildlife across North and Central America. LightHawk leverages the skill and generosity of 200 volunteer pilots by working in partnership with more than 250 conservation groups, agencies and universities each year. We provide flights for aerial photography, scientific research, restoration planning, media tours, staff and board training, and donor education.
About a third of LightHawk’s projects each year involve coastal and marine conservation, including promoting and monitoring marine protected areas, researching marine life, and investigating the ways that land-based activities impact ocean health. In 2013, we are launching LightHawk:Oceans, an initiative designed to bring together philanthropists, scientists, donors and pilots who want to find new and creative ways to promote ocean conservation.
