Works to preserve and protect our coastal heritage, wildlife and wetlands through sponsoring and participating in coastal clean-ups, publishing quarterly newsletters, sponsoring free lectures on subjects like hurricanes, shoreline movement, and environmental observation from space, periodically conducting essay contests for students on subjects relating to the beach environment, and encouraging their membership to write to their elected officials about m atters of concern ranging from the immeadiate closure of any beaches on the Long Island barrier islands to illegal parking along the dune area.
