Our Projects

Ocean Climate Action Plan

In early 2019 our organizations began developing an Ocean Climate Action Plan (OCAP) to identify ways we can use ocean resources to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions while helping coastal communities to adapt to impacts already underway.

Rising Tide Podcast

Rising Tide, the Ocean Podcast is co-hosted by Blue Frontier’s David Helvarg and Vicki Nichols Goldstein, Founder and Director of the Inland Ocean Coalition. This podcast aims to give you information, inspiration and motivation (along with a few laughs) to help understand our ocean world and make it better. The ocean is rising, and so are we!

Point Molate Alliance

Point Molate Alliance is a Blue Frontier project that, in 2010 (as Citizens for a Sustainable Point Molate), helped defeat plans for a mega-casino on this publically owned 422-acre natural headlands and waters that include 180 acres of the most pristine eelgrass beds in San Francisco Bay. For several years after we worked on opening Point Molate to greater public access – starting with a beach park and hoping to creating a world class regional park – while also sponsoring field trips for Richmond’s underserved high schools.

Queen of The Coast Boat Project

For over 20 years Blue Frontier has been a national leader in providing resources and opportunities to bring people who care about the health of our coasts and ocean together, creating solutions for the environmental challenges facing our ocean world. We recently acquired a classic 1934 yacht to continue our work.

Media Training Workshops

In our dynamic, intensive 3-6-hour workshops attendees learn techniques to turn their coastal and conservation issues into popular stories and pitches to engage public interest. They learn how to pitch and work effectively with journalists and editors to get their story out there, how to develop and communicate engaging stories about their work and how to produce their own stories for print, broadcast and social media.
